In the heart of Bangalore over 70 years ago, a culinary dream was born as my grandfather, Shri Nagapaiah Alse, armed with nothing but three idlis in a bag and a big dream in his heart, embarked on an extraordinary journey from Kundapura (South Kanara district of Karnataka). Alongside his wife, he opened the doors to Ramakrishna Lunch Home, a modest eatery that would go on to become a culinary sensation in the city. The irresistible aroma of their South Indian delicacies, featuring renowned masala dosa, idli/vada, chiroti/peni, jalebi, and mysore pak, quickly turned the establishment into the talk of the town, laying the foundation for a lasting culinary legacy.
Inspired by the rich heritage of Ramakrishna Lunch Home, we, the proud descendants of Shri Nagapaiah Alse, set out on a mission to continue this extraordinary culinary tradition. The result? Benaka Foods, an Atlanta-based venture with a heartfelt commitment to bringing the authentic flavors of South India to our new home.
